Rental Property Registration

The City of Cape Coral has a Residential Rental Property Registration Ordinance in place, which requires that all residential structures with four units or fewer that are leased or rented must be registered. There is a one-time registration fee of $35.

Properties exempt from registration include:
  • Rental properties owned by federal, state, or local housing programs
  • HUD
  • Hotels & motels
  • Any community residential facility licensed and inspected by the state of Florida that do not include owner-occupied units.
Failure to register is a violation of City Ordinance and will subject the owner to code enforcement procedures.
